This Sunday is mothers day. Just in case anyone has forgotten,

so my window this week will have Mums and Nans in mind......

Spring Horticultural show.

Over the past few weeks I have had a very garden feel to my window to help promote the horticultural show this weekend where I was judging the art and craft sections. what fun that was, its lovely to see what people manage to create .. the spring flowers filled the town hall with an amazing scent.. see next post for some photos......Hx

"More tea vicar?"

I do like a nice cup of tea, but for me a china cup and saucer, tea made in a teapot preferably with leaf tea not bags. But looking around the shop the other day at all the fab china cups I decided to count them ? 101 that was not including the 20 I have with scented candles in. After a visit with my good friend Marion last week to the country living show we did chat a bit ? ..... In our local village of wethersfield some tireless people have managed to raise funds over the last few years and have built an amazing new, state of the art pavilion on the playing fields. When i visited on the open viewing weekend recently we where given a lovely cup of tea! but sadly they still have the old miss match not very attractive china........ So we are thinking of holding an afternoon tea. with lots of scrummy cakes on vintage cake stands. tea in vintage teapots, cups and saucers, beautiful hand embroidered tablecloths on the tables and of course bunting... we are hoping to hold this on the day of the royal wedding , all are welcome . I will announce the times etc over the next couple of weeks....have a good week ......Hx

Yesterdays Thrifting! some large pieces of furniture which will need some re-vamping, I found some lovely bits and bobs. so lots of cleaning, polishing and then ticketing. there was some really pretty plates which i will turn into cake stands... lots of lovely cutlery including some pretty jam spoons , a set of six silver plated pastry forks , some interesting vintage costume jewellery from the 40`s and 50`s and some interesting framed prints ..
i have changed the window again with a gardening spring theme so will post pictures asap..

sunshine horray!

well I have gone for opposites this week?
I found these lovely scraps of antique quilts which I will make some cushions etc , but I also put some pieces into some shabby vintage frames. the guilt mirror sold within a few hours.
then there is the fab striped cotton deckchair fabris , perfect for the summer garden ..keep watching for the re-vamped deckchairs .
I will be changing the shop window to a garden theme this week to get ready for the horticultural show on the 26th of this month in great Bardfield town hall , where I have the great honor of being a judge of the art and craft section , I have never done anything like this before whilst looking forward to this as they are always a lovely event to visit I am a little bit apprehensive of what to expect.. but I am sure it will be fun . . what lovely weather we are having FREEEZING but beautiful SUNSHINE....................................Hx

well i bought this lovely old large original oil on canvas painting , i brought it home looked on the wall. it fits perfect so i am afraid i had to keep it ....
(if i hadnt my daughter would have had it!)
also some pretty bits and bobs which will be for sale soon ..
